Director, Austin Energy Finance (Accounting)

The Director, Austin Energy Finance serves under the direction of the Deputy General Manager, Chief Financial and Risk Officer. Under minimal direction, this position leads and manages the operations of the Corporate Accounting organization and provides support to the Chief Financial and Risk Office in the general management of the Finance and Corporate Services business unit.

The Director provides leadership to four managers and approximately 24 professionals in the Corporate Accounting work group responsible for the following:

• Recording and reporting of all financial transactions of the electric utility in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices.

• Develop and monitor all financial internal controls, processes and procedures to ensure the financial integrity of the electric utility.

• In conjunction with City of Austin Treasurer, ensure the effective use of capital while maintaining positive credit ratings.

The Director, in support of the City of Austin Controller, is responsible for the annual external audit of Austin Energy and development of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFR) that includes the electric utility. The Director frequently interacts with and presents complex financial information to Austin Energy executives, Boards and Commissions, City Staff and City Council.
