The Fund Accounting Manager/Assistant Fund Accounting Controller is responsible overseeing all aspects of fund level accounting and reporting activities for assigned Lionstone investment funds and overseeing the accounting staff responsible for those funds.
Oversight and maintenance of fund level general ledger, accounts payable, cash management and budgeting.
Assist in the review and approval of the accounting methods applied to the property budgets and capital schedules.
Coaching and development of fund accounting staff.
Support and communicate with other departments regarding accounting, reporting, cash management and fund level capital activity.
Oversight of the review of monthly property activity and financial statements (monthly property reports).
Review of property and fund level bank reconciliations.
Review day-to-day fund level accounting activity.
Review quarterly and year-end consolidated financial statements.
Preparation of significant and complex accounting transactions.
Oversee the preparation of quarterly investor reports including coordinating with asset and property management teams, and portfolio managers.
Coordination and oversight of external audits (primary auditor interface and reference).
Review audit schedules and audit report draft.
Preparation of tax schedules for external tax teams.
Primary point of contact for property management personnel related to accounting and reporting policies and procedures.
Maintain Fund level internal controls.
Perform internal audits/reviews of property management teams. System guidance to property management personnel related to accounting and reporting.
Protect organization's value by maintaining confidentiality of information.
Perform ad-hoc special projects and assist with ad hoc requests, as needed.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
CPA and/or CFA designation.
Proficient knowledge of PC applications.
Microsoft Suite proficiency.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, internal and external professional communications.
Ability to work independently, multi-task, think ahead and meet deadlines.
Real Estate industry experience, including REITs.
Public accounting experience.
Experience with partnership structures and waterfall calculations.
