POSITION SUMMARY
Targa Resources Corp. is a leading provider of midstream services and is one of the largest independent midstream infrastructure companies in North America. Targa is currently seeking a Sr. Manager Financial Reporting. This leadership position is responsible for all aspects of external reporting, including preparation of SEC financial statements (Form 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Proxy and XBRL filing), quarterly earnings press releases, other investor communications and standalone audited financial statements for joint venture partners. The position will be responsible for managing a team of three and reports directly to the Director of Financial Accounting.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, coordinate and oversee the external reporting process for one SEC registrant, e.g., Form 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Proxy, registration statements, offering documents, XBRL filing and other earnings release communications
- Manage the financial reporting calendar while coordinating activities with Corporate Accounting, Budgeting & Planning, Corporate Tax, Legal, Investor Relations and Treasury teams
- Oversee the preparation of quarterly financial statements, including statement of cash flows
- Ensure compliance with all SEC and U.S. GAAP disclosure requirements
- Oversee compliance and review of XBRL process
- Lead various process improvement initiatives in order to eliminate redundancies and improve efficiencies in external reporting
- Ensure the proper implementation of new reporting pronouncements from the SEC
- Oversee quarterly stock-based compensation expense calculation and accounting
- Review variance analyses and reconciliation of financial statement data, including participation in the Company’s Disclosure Review Process
- Ensure data in the company’s financial reporting application is accurate and complete
- Review and preparation of annual audited financial statements and footnotes for the Company’s joint venture partners
- Assist in quarterly and ad hoc presentation of disclosures to executive management team and other department heads
- Support the annual audit and quarterly review activities with the external auditors
- Maintain internal control documentation for financial reporting and play a key role in the Company’s SOX compliance effort
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in accounting or finance
- 8+ years reporting and technical accounting experience, with at least 5 of those years in a public company SEC/financial reporting department
- CPA, or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience researching, documenting, and implementing SEC and U.S. GAAP disclosure guidance
- Experience in accounting for stock-based compensation (ASC 718)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organization, project management and analytical skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Regular and Reliable Attendance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Midstream energy sector experience.
- Experience as a Manager or above in a Big 4 accounting firm.
- Experience with OneStream and Oracle Financials Cloud.
- Familiarity with SEC Filing software (Active Disclosure, Workiva, or similar)
